Oyo State Government Holds Press Briefing on 2024 Yemoja Festival
The Oyo State Government, through the office of the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser to the Governor, Dr Sulaiman Olanrewaju, alongside the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, held a press briefing today to address preparations for the 2024 Yemoja Festival. The briefing took place at the Cultural Center, Mokola, Ibadan, with key traditional stakeholders in attendance, including the Aare Isese of Oyo State, Aare Omikunmi Egbelade.
During the event, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, emphasized the cultural significance of the Yemoja Festival as an integral part of Oyo State’s rich heritage, stressing the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting traditional festivals that unite people from diverse backgrounds. Dr Olatunbosun further elaborated on the festival’s impact on tourism, highlighting efforts to attract local and international visitors while enhancing the state’s cultural image.
Aare Omikunmi Egbelade, representing the traditional custodians of culture, expressed gratitude for the government’s support and reiterated the importance of the Yemoja Festival as a symbol of unity, peace, and prosperity for the people of Oyo State.
The 2024 Yemoja Festival is expected to draw an even larger audience, fostering cultural pride and reinforcing Oyo State’s position as a hub of traditional celebrations in Nigeria.
