Unbeatable Mark: Nigerian Athlete Sets New Benchmark in Paris

Nigerian powerlifter Onyinyechi Mark clinched the gold medal in the women’s 61kg powerlifting category at the ongoing Paris Paralympics in France, setting a new benchmark with a remarkable lift of 150kg. The 23-year-old athlete’s outstanding performance on Friday saw her surpass her competitors by a significant margin, showcasing her strength and determination on the world stage.

 

Mark’s victory came after a tightly contested competition. China’s Cui Jianjin earned the silver medal with a best lift of 140kg, while Mexico’s Amelia Perez secured the bronze with a lift of 130kg. Both athletes put up a commendable fight, but it was Mark who ultimately proved unbeatable with her powerful display and flawless technique.

 

This win adds to Nigeria’s growing reputation in Paralympic powerlifting, a sport where the nation has consistently excelled.
