A serious accident occurred at Ajegunle bus-stop, Lagos, involving two loaded trucks. One truck, driving against traffic at high speed, lost control due to brake failure and collided with the other truck.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority operatives responded swiftly, rescuing three drivers with serious injuries, including two with head injuries and one with broken legs. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by brake failure and driving against traffic. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, confirmed the incident and urged drivers to exercise caution.
Giwa, who is responsible for advising the Governor on transportation matters, stressed that drivers must comply with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018, and avoid driving against traffic. He also advised truck drivers and private car owners to check their vehicles’ condition before driving, especially during the rainy season.
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Response Unit was called in to evacuate the trucks and ensure free vehicular movement around the accident scene.
