Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially presented instruments of office to Oba Samuel Adegbola, reaffirming his position as the Eleruwa of Eruwaland in Ibarapa East Local Government. This significant ceremony took place at the Executive Chamber, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, marking a new chapter in the history of Eruwa.

Governor Makinde emphasized that Oba Adegbola’s appointment was approved based on the recommendation of the Kingmakers for Eruwaland, with the goal of restoring the community’s path to development. The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to non-interference in the affairs of traditional institutions, advising opposing parties to refrain from pursuing costly legal battles.
Makinde acknowledged the crucial role traditional rulers play in maintaining security, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting community development. He also highlighted his administration’s efforts to resolve the Eleruwa stool vacancy since 2019, which was precipitated by the Supreme Court’s decision to depose Oba Adegbola in November of that year.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Adegbola pledged to work towards reconciling the Eruwa community and collaborating with other traditional rulers to drive progress in the state. This development is expected to bring stability and growth to Eruwaland, following a period of uncertainty surrounding the Eleruwa stool.
