The Moslem Grammar School Old Students Association held its Annual General Meeting and launched a 100 million Naira development fund for the school on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Themed *”My Contributions and Insights are Crucial in Shaping the Future of My Alma Mater,”* the event brought together distinguished guests and dignitaries, who also witnessed the inauguration of the association’s new executive members.
In her opening remarks, the chairperson of the occasion, Chief Mrs. Wuraola Adepoju, warmly welcomed attendees, thanking them for their dedication to the growth and success of the school. She expressed appreciation for their continued contributions toward uplifting their alma mater.
The event’s chairman, Prof. Yahaya Imam, extended greetings to all present and specifically recognized Alhaji Nureni, the Chairman of Oyo SUBEB, for his steadfast support of the school’s development efforts. Prof. Imam also personally acknowledged Senior Ambali Ishola, the first head boy of the alumni association, underscoring the significance of collective efforts in strengthening the education system.
As the Chief Launcher, Engineer Mutiu Owolabi Adebowale, formally initiated the 100 million Naira fundraiser by announcing his own donation of one million Naira toward the school’s development. He called on others to join him in this transformative effort for their alma mater.
In his address, outgoing association president Alhaji Mojeed Adeleke expressed gratitude to members and guests for their support, noting their contributions as essential to the association’s success. He presented honorary awards to individuals who had demonstrated exceptional commitment through generous donations, both in cash and in kind.
A highlight of the event was the ceremonial opening of two renovated five-classroom buildings, funded by the 1983 and 2002 graduating sets, respectively, as part of their contribution to the school’s infrastructure development.
The incoming executives were then sworn in, with Dr. Bari Adetunji, the event’s spiritual leader, delivering a goodwill message. He encouraged the new leaders to prioritize the greater good of the institution over personal gain.
Rotarian Otunba Olalekan Lukman, the newly elected president, expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him. In his acceptance speech, he pledged to uphold the association’s values and always place the welfare of the school above personal interests.
The event featured vibrant entertainment, including a live band, cultural displays from students, Quranic recitations, and more.
Prominent attendees included Engr. Mutiu Adebowale, Chairman of 1st August Nigeria Limited; Prof. Yahaya Imam, chairman of the event; Chief Barrister Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, President of CCII; Alhaji Nureni, Chairman of Oyo SUBEB; and many others. The gathering underscored the alumni association’s commitment to ensuring the lasting growth and development of Moslem Grammar School.
