The executive chairman of Ibadan Northeast local government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, officially swore in the newly elected councillors of the council on Thursday.
The council legislators were elected in a poll organized by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates winning all councilorship seats in the election held on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Speaking to the elected councillors at the local government secretariat in Iwo Road, Ibadan, Akintayo urged them to prepare for hard work, emphasizing that the challenges ahead would require their full concentration and dedication to duty.
He called on the council lawmakers to collaborate, regardless of their beliefs and opinions, as the success of the local community depends on their united efforts.
Akintayo also encouraged the councillors to be open to learning and trying new things, highlighting that this approach would enhance their effectiveness in fulfilling their responsibilities.
“The people who elected you are the true owners of the office,” Akintayo reminded the councillors. He urged them to deliver the good work for which they were democratically elected, ensuring that they serve the community with dedication and integrity.
