In a landmark event, the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, convened an Economic and Security Stakeholders Dialogue at the council secretariat in Iyana-Offa on Wednesday.
Described as the first of its kind in the local government’s history, the dialogue focused on key areas such as security, public safety, social development, and economic growth. It brought together a diverse group of attendees, including security experts, business owners, economic experts, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, administrative staff, and other eminent members of society.
In his presentation, Hon. Kamorudeen outlined an action plan aimed at advancing the local government. The plan addressed critical areas including:
– Adequate security
– Establishment of a local security network
– Community policing initiatives
– Public awareness campaigns
– Infrastructure improvements, including mandated surveillance (CCTV) cameras in business and economic areas
– Emergency response systems
– Disaster preparedness
– Health and safety regulations
– Support for local businesses and startups
– Infrastructure development
– Skills development and training
– Timely payment of collectible revenues by the local government
The chairman emphasized that the dialogue’s purpose was to address immediate concerns and lay the foundation for sustainable development by enhancing local security, ensuring public safety, advancing social development, and fostering economic growth.
A significant highlight of the event was the introduction of a local security network. The initiative, under the operational scheme “Lagelu Secure,” will work closely with state and federal security agencies to enhance the local security framework and ensure better safety measures for residents and businesses within the local government area.
The program marked a notable step towards integrating economic and security strategies, underscoring Lagelu’s commitment to improving both public safety and economic growth.
