The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, has announced efforts by the state government to revitalize the market system by constructing markets equipped with modern facilities in both urban centers and rural communities. He disclosed this at the inauguration of the ultra-modern Kajola Market in Ògbòmọ́ṣọ̀ South Local Government Area. The Acting Governor emphasized the administration’s commitment to liberalizing the local economy and encouraged the Local Government Chairman to submit a proposal for the market’s expansion.
In his address, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, highlighted the importance of maintaining the newly constructed market, which aims to boost business activities in the area. Speaking to the media, the Chairman of Ògbòmọ́ṣọ̀ South Local Government, Mr. Timothy Oyedokun, described the project as phase one and assured fair allocation of market spaces, particularly to those whose shops were demolished during the construction.
In a goodwill message, the Òǹpetu of Ìjérù Kingdom, Oba Sunday Oyediran, praised Governor Seyi Makinde for the landmark initiative and urged the elites and influencers of Ògbòmọ́ṣọ̀ to leverage their positions to further the development of their community.
The ultra-modern Kajola Market features 120 lock-up shops, 80 stalls, an abattoir, an administrative block, and toilet facilities, providing a comprehensive and conducive environment for business activities.
