Oyo Govt, UNICEF/ HIS Tower Distribute 7O Routers to Schools

Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund

(UNICEF) and HIS TOWER, on Monday, distributed 70 Routers to Public Primary and Secondary Schools in Oyo State.

 

The commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, while speaking after the symbolic distribution of the routers at the Conference Room of the Ministry, said the initiative was aimed at improving digital learning in the beneficiary schools.

He added that the gadget would provide internet access to students and teachers in public schools.

 

The commissioner hinted that the partnership underscores the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology to drive education and development in Oyo State.

 

He maintained that the distribution of routers is expected to improve the learning and teaching in the beneficiary schools.

 

The Commissioner urged teachers and stakeholders to make the best use of the routers to enhance educational development, while assuring that more support for the sector is on the way.

 

According to him, “For the past two to three decades, technological companies have been assisting northern communities with limited results. We are optimistic that, within the next 10 years, southern communities will start seeing positive outcomes from such innovations.”

 

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, a teacher from TL Oyesina Model School, Monatan

Mrs. Oladimeji Esther, commended the Oyo State government and UNICEF.

 

She described the programme as a significant step in equipping the next generation with technological tools to advance the state’s educational sector.

 

The event had in attendance the chairman, Oyo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BOTAVED), Deacon Adeoye Adekola, the Coordinating Director of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Christiana Bolaji Directors; representatives of UNICEF; and teachers from both primary and secondary schools across the state.
