The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN), has commiserated with the victims of yesterday’s auto crash that claimed at least 17 lives in Ibadan. Speaking through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Bodija Akinwale, Hon. Oyekunle described the incident as a “black Tuesday” for Ibadan North Federal Constituency, considering the precious lives lost.

He commended the swift response of the state’s rescue operations and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for their timely intervention in putting the situation under control. However, he also seized the opportunity to advise commercial drivers to avoid speeding and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey.

“Yesterday’s auto crash is a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety,” Hon. Oyekunle said. “I urge all drivers to never be in a hurry to their destination, as over-speeding can have devastating consequences. Regular vehicle maintenance is also crucial to preventing such accidents.”

The Deputy Chief of Staff’s condolences and advice come as the state mourns the loss of lives in the tragic incident. The FRSC and other relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, with a view to preventing similar occurrences in the future.
