The Oyo State House of Assembly has condemned the derogatory remarks allegedly made by the former Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy to late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Dr. Doyin Odebowale against the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, during a recent broadcast on Lagelu FM, Ibadan.

The lawmakers described the alleged derogatory comments as factually incorrect, disrespectful, and inciting.

In a motion sponsored by Hon. S.A. Onaolapo, Leader of the House, and co-sponsored by Hon. J.A Ogundele, Hon. Mrs. O.M. Michael, and Hon. A.A. Ogundare, the Assembly noted the critical role of traditional institutions in preserving culture, heritage, and community cohesion in Oyo State.

The Assembly called on the Office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to seek legal remedy against Dr. Odebowale for making defamatory and inciting remarks against the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

They also urged the Ministry of Information and Orientation to move the NBC to take disciplinary action against Lagelu FM and its presenter, Temitayo Oyeladun “Aboo Oro”, for failing to uphold professional broadcasting ethics.
