In a landmark ceremony yesterday, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, officially commissioned the Hon. Olaide Akinremi Jagaban Ultramodern Lock-Up Shops and Motor Park at Bodija Market.
The event drew numerous political dignitaries and business leaders, underscoring its significance to the local community. The program began with opening remarks by Hon. Ademola Omotoso, Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, who praised Hon. Olufade for his exemplary leadership in Ibadan North, describing him as a youth endowed with intellectual capacity and humility. Hon. Omotoso further lauded Governor Seyi Makinde’s transformative leadership, which has elevated the state’s people from poverty to prosperity.
Hon. Omotoso also expressed his pleasure that despite initial resistance from market traders and transporters, all stakeholders are now satisfied with the completed project, and shop owners and transporters have fully resumed their activities.
Alhaji Taofeek Akinremi, brother of the late Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi Jagaban, after whom the facility was named, expressed his appreciation to Governor Makinde, Otunba Seye Famojuro, and Hon. Olufade for their unwavering support of the family. He highlighted Otunba Seye Famojuro’s continuous assistance even after the death of the late representative.
The Otun Iyaloja of Bodija Market, Alhaja Afusat Oyebamiji (R.O.), commended Otunba Seye Famojuro and his delegation for gracing the event. She also appreciated Governor Makinde for his attentive leadership and Hon. Olufade for maintaining integrity and keeping his promises to the market traders.
The formal commissioning was conducted by Hon. Tunde Tijani, popularly known as Double T. In his remarks, Hon. Olufade thanked all the dignitaries for their presence and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Ibadan North diligently. Following the commissioning, Hon. Olufade and Otunba Seye Famojuro attended the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executives of the Ibadan Foodstuff Sellers Association, Bodija Market. During this event, Chief Dauda Adegbenro, a.k.a Darosa, was sworn in as the new chairman of the association.
Otunba Famojuro was honored with a Peace Award in recognition of his role in resolving a longstanding conflict among the market factions. The Babaloja of Bodija Market, Alhaji Chief Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh (S.A.J.), praised Governor Makinde, Otunba Famojuro, and Hon. Olufade for their concerted efforts in restoring harmony and peace in the market.
The occasion concluded with a vibrant musical performance by Oyo State’s renowned musician, Alhaji Taye Currency, who added a lively atmosphere to the event.
