A tragic incident unfolded during the final match of the 5th Isiaka Adeleke Memorial Cup in Osun State, as 29-year-old footballer Adeyemi Adewale passed away on the field.

The match, held yesterday at the Ataoja School of Science field, was part of a tournament organized to honor the late Isiaka Adeleke, elder brother of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Adewale, representing the Ilesa West Football Team, collapsed during the game against the Ejigbo Team. Heartbreakingly, the match coincided with his 29th birthday.

The spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the unfortunate incident. This tragic loss has cast a somber shadow over what was intended to be a celebration of Isiaka Adeleke’s legacy, leaving fans, players, and organizers deeply grieved.
