Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has publicly refuted claims linked to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, following the circulation of an article falsely attributed to her online.

In a firm post on her official X account (formerly Twitter), Okonjo-Iweala dismissed the article as a fabrication and clarified that she had no connection to it. She further explained that the article manipulates her recent speech on a “Social Contract for Nigeria” to push a political agenda.

She captioned her post:

“FAKE!! I have taken screenshots of a fake article purported to be written by me about Abia State and its Gov HE Alex Otti that tries to fraudulently build on my recent speech on a Social Contract for Nigeria. Political hacks beware of using me for propaganda. I shall take action!”

Accompanying her post was a screenshot of the misleading article to expose its falsehood.

Okonjo-Iweala’s emphatic response highlights her strong stance against the misuse of her name and words for political propaganda, and she signaled her intent to pursue action against those responsible for the misinformation.
