The Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation into a vessel, *Bravo Alero*, which is suspected to be involved in oil theft activities in the Niger Delta region.

The vessel was intercepted by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) *FORMOSSO* stationed in Brass, Bayelsa State, while transporting 200 liters of a substance believed to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). Following the arrest, the Navy handed over the vessel to the EFCC for further investigation and potential prosecution. This development was announced in a statement posted on the EFCC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account today.

During the handover ceremony, Commander M.A. Gaga, representing the Commanding Officer of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) *FORMOSO*, Captain Ifeanyichukwu Charles Mabeokwu, expressed appreciation to the EFCC and confidence in the Commission’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation and pursue prosecution where necessary. He also reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to continued collaboration with the EFCC in combating illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta.

Receiving the vessel on behalf of the EFCC, Chief Superintendent Shittu Babatunde assured the Nigerian Navy of a prompt and professional investigation into the case, emphasizing the Commission’s dedication to upholding justice and ensuring accountability in the fight against economic crimes.
