The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara State Command has arrested an 81-year-old man, Adeleke Oke, along with two other individuals, Sikiru Lawal (37) and Moshood Ayinde (37), for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in Offa, Kwara State.
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Kwara State, Ayoola Michael, the suspects were apprehended on Sunday after the victim’s father filed a report at the Offa Division of the Corps. The case has since been transferred to the Gender Unit of the command for further investigation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects had engaged in unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor on different occasions, threatening her to remain silent about the abuse. A comprehensive medical examination confirmed that the victim’s hymen had been ruptured, providing clear evidence of repeated sexual penetration.
The suspects have confessed to the crime and are set to be charged in court for prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Commandant of the NSCDC in Kwara State, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, strongly condemned the heinous act and called on the public to collaborate with the Corps in its ongoing efforts to combat defilement, rape, and other sexual offenses. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in bringing perpetrators of such crimes to justice and protecting vulnerable individuals from harm.
