The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko, has honored his promise by donating ₦10 million to the Super Eagles B team following their qualification for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The home-based Eagles secured a decisive 3-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Galaxies yesterday in Uyo, earning their spot in the tournament scheduled for February 2025, to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Initially, NSC Director General Bukola Olopade had expressed a personal intention to reward the team for a win. However, in an admirable act of leadership, Malam Shehu Dikko stepped in, ensuring that the gesture came directly from the NSC leadership.
Dikko’s commitment underscores his dedication to motivating Nigerian athletes and recognizing their efforts in representing the nation on the global stage. The donation is expected to boost morale as the team prepares for the continental tournament.
The qualification triumph marks a significant achievement for the Super Eagles B team, and Dikko’s gesture reaffirms the NSC’s unwavering support for Nigerian sports.
