No clean water in Lagos for over 30 years ,Funso Doherty Laments Lagos Water Woes, Demands Government Actions
Lagos-based businessman and philanthropist, Funso Doherty, has added his voice to the growing chorus of complaints about the water crisis in Lagos State. In a recent interview, Doherty expressed his frustration with the government’s inability to provide clean and potable water to residents.
“As a resident of Lagos, I am appalled by the lack of access to clean water in our state,” Doherty said. “It is unacceptable that in a state as prosperous as Lagos, we still have to rely on boreholes and private water vendors for our daily water needs.”
Doherty blamed the government’s lack of investment in water infrastructure for the crisis. “The government needs to take responsibility for providing basic amenities like water to its citizens,” he said. “We need to see a comprehensive plan to revamp our water infrastructure and provide clean water to all residents.”
Doherty also called on the government to regulate the activities of private water vendors, who often sell contaminated water to unsuspecting residents. “The government needs to ensure that these vendors are selling safe and clean water,” he said.
As a concerned citizen, Doherty urged the government to take immediate action to address the water crisis in Lagos State. “We cannot continue to live in a state where access to clean water is a luxury,” he said. “It’s time for the government to take responsibility and provide us with the basic amenities we deserve.
