Two-time finalists Nigeria will establish their training camp in Bogota, Colombia, starting Sunday, as part of a two-week final preparation for the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup finals, which kick off in Colombia on the last day of this month.
The Falconets, who have consistently qualified for the tournament, reached the semi-finals in Japan 12 years ago and advanced to the quarter-finals in 2006, 2018, and 2022. They secured one of Africa’s spots in this year’s tournament with aggregate victories over Tanzania and Burundi.
Under the guidance of Coach Christopher Musa Danjuma, the team spent four weeks in Abuja for the first phase of their final preparations. During this period, they played a series of friendly matches, winning most and losing only once, showcasing their readiness for the upcoming challenge.
On Friday, Sports Minister John Owan-Enoh visited the squad and urged them to aim for the ultimate prize, reminding them of their previous successes, including winning silver medals and reaching the semi-finals. He emphasized the importance of their preparation and encouraged them to strive for excellence on the world stage.
