The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has notified residents of Abuja and surrounding areas about a planned crisis-response simulation exercise. The exercise will take place at the Idu Train Station on Thursday, November 28, 2024, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
In a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, Adejobi Muyiwa, the police emphasized that the exercise is part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of security forces to respond to emerging security threats across Nigeria.
The Statement Highlights:
– The simulation exercise will involve controlled explosions and other activities designed to replicate an emergency scenario.
– It is part of a joint operation led by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Nigeria Police Force to enhance preparedness against security threats.
– Residents are advised not to panic as the exercise will be conducted in a controlled environment with no risk to public safety.
The statement noted:
> “In furtherance of efforts in combating all forms of crimes and criminality in Nigeria, the Federal Government has initiated a joint operation and training exercise to prepare security forces to respond appropriately and adequately to security threats in Nigeria.
> “The Office of the National Security Adviser, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on Thursday, November 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
Residents are encouraged to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel as the exercise unfolds.
