Netflix Denies Plans To Exit Nigeria, Restates Commitment

Popular movies streaming platform, Netflix, has denied reports that it is exiting Nigeria.

 

There has been apprehension after unconfirmed rumours filtered in that Netflix was leaving Nigeria.

 

Reacting however, the organisation through its public relations firm, Hill & Knowlton Strategies, denied plans to leave the country.

 

Edafe Onoriode, the Group Account Director, reaffirmed the company’s continued support to Nigeria’s creative economy.

 

“We are not exiting Nigeria. We will continue to invest in Nigerian stories to delight our members,” the Netflix spokesperson stated.

 

The unconfirmed rreport on Netflix exiting Nigeria got more credence after statements were also credited to renowned Nollywood actor, Kunle Afolayan.

 

In a now viral statement, Afolayan was quoted as saying Netflix cancelled many projects it had commissioned earlier.

 

Netflix has been in Nigeria for eight years, making its entry in 2016.
