The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested no fewer than 60 individuals during a drug party organized in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The operation, which targeted a party allegedly organized by one Stanley Ikechukwu, resulted in the apprehension of 25 males and 35 females.

According to a statement released on Sunday by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the agency’s operatives carried out the raid after receiving intelligence about the illicit gathering. The statement highlighted that at least six individuals were caught with various types of drugs at the venue.

The NDLEA’s swift action underscores its commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking across Nigeria. The agency has intensified its efforts to identify and dismantle drug-related activities, especially those that involve young people and organized gatherings.

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation. The drugs found at the scene included cannabis, cocaine, and ecstasy, among others. The NDLEA’s intervention prevented the potential distribution and consumption of these harmful substances.

Femi Babafemi emphasized the agency’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse and urged the public to provide information that could help in the fight against drug-related crimes. He also reiterated the NDLEA’s dedication to ensuring that the FCT remains free from drug-related activities that endanger the lives of its residents.

The NDLEA’s recent success in disrupting the drug party is part of a broader strategy to curb the proliferation of drugs and maintain public safety. The agency continues to collaborate with other law enforcement bodies and community stakeholders to enhance its operations and effectiveness.
