Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, recently inspected the parade of newly recruited Amotekun Corps members during their passing-out ceremony at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iseyin. The event which was held today, was a significant event, which marked the graduation of the forest rangers from the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps
Governor Makinde was decorated by Sir Commodore Rasaki Babalola Badmus during the ceremony, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the state government and security agencies. Notable attendees included AIG Kayode Akande (rtd), Board Chairman of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps; Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Oyediran; and Commandant, Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju.
As governor, Seyi Makinde has prioritized security, education, healthcare, and economic development in Oyo State. His administration’s “Roadmap for Accelerated Development” focuses on four key pillars: Education, Healthcare, Security, and Agribusiness-driven economic growth ¹. This initiative aims to revitalize Oyo State’s status as a pacesetter in Nigeria.
Under Governor Makinde’s leadership, Oyo State has witnessed significant economic growth, with its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) increasing by over 90% between 2019 and 2022 ². The state has also attracted major investments, including a gas project by Shell Nigeria Gas Limited and the establishment of Africa’s first cassava-based sorbitol factory by Psaltry International ².
The Amotekun Corps graduation ceremony demonstrates Governor Makinde’s commitment to enhancing security in Oyo State. By strengthening the state’s security apparatus, his administration aims to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and citizens to live safely.
