The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has pledged to enhance security measures around vulnerable schools in the state. The governor made this commitment today at the launch of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem and fundraising event held at the State Secretariat, Ibadan.

Highlighting the progress made in improving security at some of the schools located in high-risk areas, such as Queens School, Governor Makinde noted the installation of CCTV systems and the deployment of physical security personnel, including members of the Man O’ War security outfit. He emphasized the importance of combining advanced technology with on-ground personnel to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The governor also announced that the implementation of the new minimum wage in Oyo State would commence on the 25th of this month. Additionally, he assured the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Legion that they, too, would benefit from the new wage structure. To support the legion’s activities, Governor Makinde donated ₦25 million and promised to provide seven vehicles, one for each regional chapter of the organization.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Oyo State Chapter, Evangelist Julius Ogunkojo, expressed gratitude to the governor for his consistent support. He also appealed for further contributions to fund the numerous projects planned for the security outfit in the state.
