Makinde Takes a Break: Oyo Governor Announces Annual Leave, Transfers Power to Deputy

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially notified the state assembly of his intention to embark on his annual leave. This was announced today during a valedictory plenary session in honor of Mrs. Yetunde Awe, the retiring Clerk of the House. The message from the governor was read by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

In his communication, Governor Makinde indicated that his leave will begin on August 5 and conclude on September 6, 2024. He also announced his intention to transfer executive powers to the deputy governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, who will serve as acting governor during his absence.

Additionally, the House swore in Mrs. Taiwo Muraina-Akinola as the new substantive Clerk of the House. Previously the deputy Clerk, her appointment follows a recommendation by the House of Assembly Commission.

The ceremony marked a significant transition, highlighting the importance of continuity and leadership within the state’s legislative framework.
