The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has announced the indefinite suspension of Pretty Okafor from his role as President of the association, with immediate effect.
In a statement released on Friday and made available to Channels Television, PMAN explained that the suspension follows a thorough investigation into Mr. Okafor’s conduct, which revealed multiple violations of the association’s Constitution and financial regulations.
The statement outlined the specific infractions that led to the suspension, including actions deemed unconstitutional, financial misconduct, and breaches of Mr. Okafor’s constitutional duties. These actions were described as severely detrimental to the integrity and proper functioning of the association.
In line with PMAN’s Constitution, the NWC has appointed Sunny Neji, the 1st Vice President of the association, to assume the role of Acting President. Neji will take on this leadership role during the interim period as the association addresses the issues stemming from Mr. Okafor’s suspension.
The decision to suspend Mr. Okafor underscores PMAN’s commitment to upholding its guiding principles and ensuring accountability within its ranks. The association emphasized that these actions were necessary to protect its reputation and maintain the confidence of its members.
Further details and the full statement from PMAN can be found below, elaborating on the steps the association will take to address the situation and ensure adherence to its Constitution moving forward.
