The Executive Chairman of Lagelu local government, Mr. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, has launched a cooperative credit bank in partnership with Itesiwaju Cooperative Society. This initiative aims to provide affordable finance and credit facilities to small businesses and startups.
According to a report from the Chairman’s office, this program serves as a major platform to enhance and democratize access to financial services for new startups and small businesses within the local government.
Speaking at the launch event on Tuesday, Chairman Kamorudeen emphasized that the cooperative credit bank is designed to drive local economic growth and social upliftment. He stated:
“It is evident, given the centrality of small businesses to the local economy, that a more clement and supportive operational environment has to be afforded them, as a starting point to revamping MSMEs in the grassroots. Our plan, therefore, is to make Lagelu local government supportive of startups and small businesses through creative support programs and affordable financial services.”
The initiative was welcomed by numerous participants from across the local government area, who viewed it as a significant development for fostering local economic growth.
