Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Ikechukwu Okafor and Nweze Chijindu, for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery. The suspects were apprehended when a joint security team, comprising police and Anambra Vigilantes, raided a native doctor’s shrine at Uru, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, the arrest followed a rescued kidnap victim’s testimony on Friday at 6 pm near Abagana Girls Secondary School. A manhunt is currently underway for two other suspects, Supuluchukwu Nweze and Sunday Nwakanze.
Recovered items include a pump-action gun, the victim’s vehicle, rope, horsewhip, and other incriminating evidence. Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim was lured to the location by a phone call allegedly initiated by Sunday Nwakanze. The two suspects have confessed to the crime and are assisting the police in arresting other gang members.
