President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced an increase in the 2025 budget, driven by additional revenues from various government agencies. The budget was initially set at 47trn and has been revised to 54.3trn. In separate letters to the Senate and House of Representatives, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary, President Tinubu attributed the increase to:

– ₦1.4 trillion in additional revenue from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)
– ₦1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)
– ₦1.8 trillion generated by other government-owned agencies
The President assured lawmakers that the budget would be finalized and passed before the end of February. This development is expected to prompt the National Assembly to expedite deliberations, ensuring timely approval and implementation of the 2025 budget .
