The Oyo State Government has received 20 CNG buses and one Keke Napep from the federal government as part of efforts to cushion the effect of subsidy removal. The buses were handed over to the Pacesetter Transport Service (PTS) at a ceremony held on Monday.
The Chairman and Sole Administrator of PTS, Hon. Salami Dikko, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde for the initiative. He noted that when he took office, there were only five working buses, but he has increased the fleet to 81.
Dikko praised the CNG initiative, saying it is the best approach to solve problems in the state. He urged the PI-CNG to provide additional 100 CNG buses to cover more routes in Oyo state.
The CEO of CNG, Engr. Micheal Oluwagbemi, said the deployment of CNG buses is to address issues affecting Nigerians, particularly petrol importation. He noted that the compressed natural gas is abundant in Nigeria and will help ameliorate hardship.
Oluwagbemi said the initiative is part of President Tinubu’s promise to use Nigeria’s gas resources to thrive transportation, industries, and produce more food and fertilizers. He emphasized that the partnership with PTS is a sustainable one that will generate income and ensure a brighter future for Oyo state and Nigeria.
