Just in: Agboworin Empowers Vulnerable Groups, Calls for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities”

The member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ibadan Northeast and Southeast Federal Constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has called on the people of Oyo State to support and encourage individuals living with disabilities.

He made this appeal during the disbursement and distribution of a strategic empowerment program for disabled and vulnerable persons in his constituency. The event, held today at the Local Government House within the Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan, was organized in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

Hon. Agboworin highlighted the current economic challenges and expressed empathy for the difficulties faced by persons living with disabilities. Reflecting on his upbringing, he noted how his modest background motivates him to support others.

“I wasn’t born into a wealthy family, but we never went hungry. As the Yoruba adage goes, *‘Bẹ́ẹ̀bì bá ti tán nínú ìṣẹ́, ìṣẹ́ búṣẹ́’* (Poverty without hunger is no poverty at all). This is why I believe that empowering people in business is a direct path to alleviating poverty,” he said in his heartfelt speech.

The Director of the NDE in Oyo State, Mrs. Steve-Ogundipe Olayinka, commended Hon. Agboworin for his dedication to humanity and urged beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items. She encouraged them to adopt a business-oriented mindset to uplift themselves and their families.

Barrister Dare Adekanbi, the Director-General of the Oyo State Agency for People Living with Disabilities, expressed gratitude to the state government and Hon. Agboworin for the unique initiative. He urged Hon. Agboworin to continue his impactful work, which has set a commendable precedent.

Other dignitaries present also lauded Hon. Agboworin’s compassion and consistent efforts to support vulnerable groups. They reminded the beneficiaries to use the distributed items for their intended purposes, emphasizing that the tools should aid their businesses rather than be sold off.

One of the beneficiaries, popularly known as Oba Aro, expressed profound gratitude, noting that Hon. Agboworin is the only House of Representatives member in recent times to organize such an empowerment initiative for persons living with disabilities. He prayed for continued divine blessings for the lawmaker.
