Thousands of Jehovah’s Witnesses gathered joyfully at their facility in Fatumo Village, Ibadan, Saturday 7th, September, 2024 to celebrate the dedication of their newly constructed Bible Education Center. This state-of-the-art facility is the second of its kind in Nigeria and is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing the religious and educational mission of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the region.
The new Bible Education Center will host two of the major schools operated by Jehovah’s Witnesses: the *School for Kingdom Evangelizers* and the *School for Circuit Overseers and Their Wives*. These schools are central to the Witnesses’ mission of training full-time ministers and leaders to support their congregations and enhance their evangelical work.
Speaking to newsmen about the significance of the new center, Gill Adekanbi, the Southwest spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses, explained the importance of Bible education in the faith’s mission. Adekanbi emphasized that the center would serve as a hub for in-depth Bible study and training, equipping ministers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively carry out their spiritual responsibilities and serve their communities. He highlighted that the center represents a significant investment in the spiritual growth and development of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria.
Attendees expressed their excitement about the dedication of the new facility. Many shared their joy in witnessing the opening of a center that they believe will have a profound impact on their faith and the growth of their community. For them, the occasion was more than just a ceremonial event; it was a celebration of their shared commitment to expanding their Bible education efforts and fostering spiritual development among Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Since 1992, the schools conducted at Jehovah’s Witnesses’ facilities in Nigeria have trained more than 2,200 full-time ministers. These programs focus on enhancing participants’ understanding of the Bible, deepening their faith, and preparing them to take on various responsibilities within their congregations. The new Bible Education Center in Ibadan will continue this legacy by providing an even more conducive environment for learning and spiritual growth.
The dedication of the new center marks a significant milestone for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nigeria, underscoring their ongoing commitment to expanding their educational programs and strengthening their religious community. The center is expected to serve as a beacon for Bible education, helping to prepare future generations of Jehovah’s Witnesses to carry out their evangelical work and support their global community.
