The executive chairman of the Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, extended his congratulations to the Muslim community, especially residents of Ido LG, on the commencement of the new Islamic calendar year 1446 AH. Adeojo expressed his prayers for relief and an end to the economic hardships facing the country.
In his congratulatory message on Sunday, Adeojo joined Muslims in Oyo State, Nigeria, and around the world in marking Hijrah 1446 AH, the start of a new Islamic year. He urged the Muslim Ummah to continue their prayers for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria and emphasized the importance of living by the teachings of the Quran and Hadith.
Adeojo’s statement commemorated and celebrated the new Islamic calendar year with the Muslim faithful, commending the executive governor of Oyo State for recognizing the significance of Hijrah in the lives of the Muslim community.
“We thank Allah for sparing our lives to witness another new year. This is a grace and blessing from Allah,” the statement read.
“As we remember the noble values exemplified by the Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, in spreading the great message of Islam, may this new year bring us closer to achieving a society that prioritizes justice, compassion, and equality for all, and bring goodness and blessings to our LG, state, Nigeria, and the Muslim community,” Adeojo prayed.
Adeojo also commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for declaring Monday, July 8th, as a work-free day in celebration of the Islamic New Year, a gesture of respect and solidarity with the Muslim community.
He called for tolerance, mutual respect, and compassion among Oyo State residents, irrespective of their beliefs and tribe.
