The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, popularly known as “O mu Yes,” has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering commitment to the development and well-being of the people of Oyo State. In a statement signed by the Council’s Information Officer, Ikeoye Oyetoro, Akintayo praised the Governor’s leadership, particularly highlighting his strides in infrastructure development and public service enhancement.
Hon. Akintayo noted that the recent commissioning of an ultra-modern building at the State Secretariat is a testament to Governor Makinde’s dedication to improving the state’s infrastructure, driving economic growth, and promoting social welfare. “Governor Makinde’s investment in modern infrastructure reflects his administration’s focus on creating an enabling environment for efficient governance and effective public service delivery,” Akintayo said. “This new facility will not only boost productivity and improve working conditions for government employees but also ensure better services for the citizens of Oyo State.”
The Chairman also emphasized that Governor Makinde’s plan to convert ad-hoc workers into permanent staff is a significant step toward bridging the workforce gap, thereby enhancing productivity and strengthening the local government structure. “This decision will greatly improve the efficiency of our workforce, ensuring that we can deliver on our mandates to the people of Oyo State,” he added.
In addition, Akintayo lauded the Governor’s approval of the recruitment of 791 officers into the state’s civil service, including 230 Education Officers and 561 officers across various departments. This, according to Akintayo, further demonstrates Governor Makinde’s commitment to fostering growth in the state through human capital development.
“Since taking office in 2019, Governor Makinde has consistently collaborated with local governments to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the state,” Akintayo said. “From clearing massive backlogs of pensions and gratuities to upgrading 209 Primary Health Care (PHC) centers, equipping 264 PHCs, and completing 60 model schools, the Governor’s achievements are remarkable.”
Akintayo stressed that these developments align with Governor Makinde’s broader vision of promoting economic growth, social inclusion, and good governance across Oyo State. “The Governor’s efforts, particularly in infrastructure development and human resource empowerment, are commendable and have set a new standard for leadership in the state. We, in Ibadan North East, deeply appreciate his initiatives and look forward to continued collaboration to drive the progress of our state.”
The Chairman concluded by stating that this significant infrastructure project, the first of its kind, dispels any allegations of undermining the local government system and reinforces the administration’s commitment to grassroots development.
