The Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of retired Justice Beatrice Adesuwa Lawal, calling the loss both “sad and shocking.”
In a condolence message personally signed on Tuesday and shared with journalists in Ibadan, Akintayo extended his sympathies to her husband, Pa Bayo Lawal, a prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the North East Local Government and close ally of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Hon. Akintayo praised Justice Lawal’s invaluable contributions to the judiciary, both within Oyo State and across Nigeria. He described her passing as not only a great and irreplaceable loss to her family and the state but also a significant void in Nigeria’s judicial landscape.
Reflecting on her legacy, Akintayo noted that Justice Lawal’s career was distinguished by her commitment to mentoring and shaping future judicial officers. “Her days as a legal luminary were marked by mentorship and coaching, impacting the judiciary at all levels. The sorrow of her departure will resonate with her family, friends, and associates for years to come,” he remarked.
Akintayo concluded by praying for divine blessings on the late Justice Beatrice Adesuwa Lawal’s soul, saying, “May Almighty God grant her husband, children, and family members the strength to bear this loss.”
