Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has approved the disbursement of ₦1 billion in gratuity payments to retirees, a significant step toward reducing the backlog of outstanding gratuities in the state.
This decision, reported by Ekiti News, reflects Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and well-being of both workers and pensioners in Ekiti State. The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.
The statement emphasized that this payment is in line with Governor Oyebanji’s earlier promise to address the financial obligations owed to retirees by previous administrations. The Governor has pledged to implement a comprehensive plan aimed at offsetting these outstanding gratuities.
Governor Oyebanji urged senior citizens to remain patient and optimistic, reassuring them of the government’s dedication to their welfare. He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the retirees to the state’s development during their active service years.
This move is part of a broader effort by the Oyebanji administration to ensure that the state’s retirees receive their due benefits, reflecting the government’s recognition and appreciation of their service and commitment to Ekiti State.
