Oyo State Governor Urges Intending Pilgrims to Represent State Excellently at Hajj
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has admonished the 1,007 intending pilgrims set to embark on the 2024 Hajj journey to uphold exemplary behavior, adhere to regulations, and avoid actions that could tarnish the image of the state and the nation.
During the farewell ceremony for the Oyo State Hajj 2024 intending pilgrims held at the Exhibition Ground of the Broadcasting Service of Oyo State, Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of focusing on the pilgrimage’s spiritual essence, wise spending, and mutual support among pilgrims.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage, Governor Makinde lauded the efforts of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing) under Sheik Wahab Hashim Ateere’s leadership for organizing a seamless Hajj 2024. He assured continuous support for religious fairness and reiterated his commitment to ensuring every religion in the state receives equitable treatment.
Addressing the officials involved in the Hajj mission, Governor Makinde emphasized the non-negotiable priority of pilgrims’ welfare and urged them to ensure the safety and well-being of all Oyo State pilgrims.
The farewell ceremony also featured remarks from Sheikh Atere, Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), who expressed appreciation for Governor Makinde’s unwavering support, highlighting the timely provision of visas and accommodations for all intending pilgrims.
In a lecture, Chief Imam Sheikh (Dr.) Teilat Ayilara urged pilgrims to remain devoted during the Hajj exercise, while other dignitaries, including Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Chief Bayo Oyero, Chief Nureni Akanbi, and Professor K.K. Olosho, encouraged prayers for the success of Governor Makinde’s administration.
The event, attended by prominent figures including former Governor Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, Deputy Speaker Hon. Mohammed Fadeyi, Chief of Staff Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, and Head of Service Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, concluded with prayers for the safe return of the pilgrims from the Holy Land.
