This announcement was made by the Oyo State Sector Commander, Rosemary Alo Uk, during a press conference held at the FRSC state headquarters. She confirmed that the special Eid-el-Kabir patrol operations are set to commence on June 14, 2024, and will be active throughout the festive period.
Alo Uk emphasized the deployment of additional resources, including ambulances and roadside clinics, strategically positioned to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies. These measures are aimed at enhancing the safety and well-being of travelers during the celebration.
In her address, Alo Uk urged all Nigerians to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, emphasizing that compliance is crucial for the safety of all road users. She highlighted that the FRSC has also initiated special programs on radio and television to educate the public on safe driving practices and proper road usage.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users during the festive season. He stressed the importance of the collaboration between the FRSC, other law enforcement agencies, and the general public in achieving a reduction in road accidents and fatalities.
Additionally, the FRSC has set up monitoring teams to oversee the operations and ensure that the deployed personnel carry out their duties effectively. These teams will be responsible for coordinating the patrol activities and responding promptly to any incidents.
The FRSC’s proactive approach includes not only the deployment of patrol vehicles but also the involvement of officers in public enlightenment campaigns, traffic control, and the provision of first aid services where necessary. This holistic strategy is designed to create a safe and enjoyable Eid-el-Kabir celebration for all Nigerians.
As the festive period approaches, the FRSC calls on all motorists to be vigilant, patient, and considerate on the roads, ensuring that the spirit of the celebration is reflected in their driving behavior. The cooperation of the public is essential in making the roads safer for everyone during Eid-el-Kabir and beyond.
