Devastating Fire Outbreak at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital: Millions of Naira in Property Destroyed

 

A catastrophic fire outbreak occurred in the early hours of the morning, approximately 5:00 a.m., at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso. The inferno, allegedly sparked by an electrical fault, ravaged the hospital’s Emergency and Accident Unit, situated within the pediatric consultant’s office.

 

The blaze resulted in the destruction of millions of naira worth of property, including vital medical equipment, books, engines, electronic gadgets, and significant structural damage to the roofs and ceilings of the affected unit. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but initial reports indicate that the losses are substantial.

 

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. However, the incident has raised concerns about the hospital’s infrastructure and safety measures. An investigation into the cause of the fire and the hospital’s response to the incident is currently underway.

 

The LAUTECH Teaching Hospital administration has promised to take immediate action to restore the damaged facilities and ensure the continuity of medical services. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety and infrastructure in our healthcare institutions.
