Ex-NUJ Chairman Takes the Helm as Olubadan’s Spokesperson

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Ige Olakunlehin I, has appointed Olugbemiga Solomon Ayoade, a former chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), as his Chief Press Secretary.

The appointment was announced in a letter dated August 29, 2024, signed by Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin on behalf of the recently crowned paramount ruler of Ibadanland. The news was shared through a press release issued by the Palace Media Team in Ibadan today.

Olugbemiga Ayoade, born into the Taiwo Ariyibi Dynasty of E8/215, Eleruko compound, Oke Ofa Baba Isale, Ibadan, has a rich educational and professional background. He holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology (1989), and a Master’s degree in Sociology (1995) from the University of Ibadan. He retired from the Oyo State Civil Service after a distinguished career as the Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilization in the Oyo State Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism.

Ayoade is a seasoned journalist who has held several key positions within the NUJ. These roles include Financial Secretary of the Ministry of Information NUJ Chapel, Treasurer, Vice-Chairman, and Chairman of the Oyo State NUJ Chapter. At the national level, he served on a seven-member committee responsible for establishing an Insurance Policy for journalists in Nigeria. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State NUJ.

In his appointment message, Oba Olakulehin Ige I tasked his new Chief Press Secretary with promoting the unity and progress of Ibadanland in his new role.
