Data on Collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) by Polling Units in Edo State
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided an update on the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in Edo State ahead of the upcoming governorship election. According to INEC, the total number of registered voters in Edo State is 2,629,025, with further demographic breakdowns provided by gender, age, occupation, and disability.
As of the conclusion of the extended period for PVC collection on Sunday, September 16, 2024, a total of 2,249,780 voters, representing 85.57% of the registered voters, have successfully collected their PVCs. However, 379,245 PVCs, or 14.43%, remain uncollected.
In preparation for the election, the Commission has published data on PVC collection by polling units in Edo State. This information is crucial for political parties, candidates, and the general public to ensure a smooth voting process. There are 4,519 polling units across the state, and voting will take place in each unit.
The detailed breakdown of the number of PVCs collected and uncollected in each polling unit has been uploaded to INEC’s official website. The announcement was made by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner & Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, via INEC’s official X account.
