The National Bureau of Statistics’ recent data release reveals a significant decline in Oyo State’s unemployment rate, recording an impressive 2.0%. This achievement positions Oyo State as a leader in employment creation, surpassing other states, including the FCT, which reported an 18.7% unemployment rate as of September 26, 2024.

Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to job creation, launching various initiatives to stimulate employment growth. During his first term, the government employed 7,000 teachers and 700 education officers through Tescom, 500 health workers, and implemented multiple skill acquisition empowerment programs.

Furthermore, the administration has approved the conversion of local government ad-hoc staff to permanent positions, providing job security for numerous individuals.

The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development has also played a crucial role in equipping the next generation with vital skills, recently training 3,000 youths in digital skills. These concerted efforts underscore the state government’s dedication to fostering economic growth and providing opportunities for its citizens.
