In a significant step towards youth empowerment and economic development, the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development has unveiled a 12-man committee to oversee the digital skill acquisition of 3,000 youths in the state. This groundbreaking initiative is designed to equip young people with essential digital competencies, positioning them for success in today’s tech-driven world.
Ayoade Olusegun, a renowned digital technology expert with extensive experience in leading similar programs, has been appointed as the committee’s chairman. His wealth of knowledge in digital skill training will be instrumental in ensuring the initiative’s success. Co-chairing the committee is Hon. Ogunsina Michael, the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party Youth Leader and acting Publicity Secretary, who is a well-respected advocate for youth empowerment in Nigeria. Hon. Ogunsina is known for his passion for equipping Nigerian youths with the wisdom, knowledge, and insight needed for leadership and governance.
The committee’s primary mandate is to provide training in key digital areas such as web development, digital marketing, Amazon Kindle Publishing, and the utilization of artificial intelligence. These trainings will be conducted in collaboration with top-tier technology firms and organizations to ensure that participants gain industry-relevant skills.
In his remarks, Ayoade Olusegun expressed his excitement about the project, stating that it represents a major leap in youth capacity-building. He emphasized that the program is expected to have a lasting impact on the state’s economy, as the skills acquired will empower participants to secure lucrative job opportunities or establish their own businesses.
The Oyo State Government has also pledged full support for the initiative, recognizing the critical role digital skills play in today’s economy. The government is committed to providing the necessary resources and infrastructure to ensure the program’s success.
Among the initiative’s major partners are Precision Automation Trading Consult and THX 22 Foundation, organizations known for their contributions to youth development. Their involvement highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development initiatives.
