The deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, has assured that justice will prevail and urged residents to remain law-abiding while the legal processes regarding the royal tussle unfold.
Speaking from the mini-palace where he has been staying since his return to Kano following his dethronement, Ado-Bayero emphasized his commitment to following the law. He stressed the importance of Kano to Nigeria, stating that whatever affects Kano has repercussions for the entire country. He called on authorities to ensure justice in the matter.
Meanwhile, the re-enthroned Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, made a triumphant return to the palace today, marking his official reinstatement as the head of the Kano Emirate. News reports indicate that Sanusi was welcomed by a large assembly of dignitaries, traditional rulers, businessmen, and well-wishers who gathered to pay homage and offer their congratulations.
The palace was filled with excitement as Sanusi, dressed in traditional attire, was ceremoniously ushered in, symbolizing a new chapter in the history of the Kano Emirate.
In a related development, heads of security agencies in Kano State have declared they will not arrest the deposed Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero, defying an order from Governor Abba Yusuf. The governor, through a statement by his Director-General on Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, had ordered Ado-Bayero’s arrest, accusing him of creating tension in the state. The statement claimed that Ado-Bayero was smuggled into Kano city on Friday night in an attempt to forcibly return to the palace two days after his dethronement.
However, Kano Commissioner of Police Mohammed Gumel, alongside other security agency leaders, stated at a press conference that they would not execute the state government’s order. He explained that they were adhering to a court order that restrained the state government from enforcing the new law that reinstated Lamido Sanusi.
