Nigerian music star Davido has taken his ex-partner Sophia Momodu to the Lagos State High Court over the custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke. The lawsuit, filed on April 17, 2024, seeks joint custody of Imade and unrestricted access to the child.
Davido claims to have been a responsible father, providing for Imade’s well-being, including paying school fees and rent for the apartment where Sophia and Imade reside. However, he alleges that Sophia has made unreasonable demands, including rejecting a N200m apartment he offered to purchase for them and instead demanding N5m annually for a rented facility.
The singer also claims to have purchased a Range Rover SUV for Sophia and Imade’s transportation needs, but his efforts were frustrated. Davido is seeking the court’s intervention to grant him joint custody and unfettered access to his daughter.
As Davido prepares for his upcoming wedding to Chioma Rowland on June 25, 2024, this legal battle with his ex-partner has added a layer of complexity to his personal life. Despite the challenges, Davido remains focused on his wedding preparations and is expected to tie the knot with Chioma as planned.
The case is ongoing at the Lagos State High Court, with Davido seeking a resolution to the custody dispute.
