The Dangote Refinery is set to begin the distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exclusively to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) starting this Sunday.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, through his representative, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), during a press briefing held in Abuja on Friday.
Edun highlighted that all associated regulatory charges, including those imposed by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), would be settled in Naira. This move aligns with the Federal Government’s broader fiscal policy aimed at promoting the use of the local currency for domestic transactions, further reinforcing the nation’s economic sovereignty.
The commencement of fuel distribution by the Dangote Refinery marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector, positioning it as a key player in refining operations and bolstering the supply chain for fuel distribution within the country.
