Popular media personality Daddy Freeze has responded to the recent Appeal Court ruling that upheld a ₦5 million fine against him for allegedly committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi, who was married to Paul Odekina at the time of the incident.
The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt initially ordered Daddy Freeze to pay the fine on February 18, 2021, after finding him guilty of the adulterous act. Dissatisfied with this judgment, Daddy Freeze sought redress in the Appeal Court, which has now confirmed the lower court’s decision.
In a live Instagram session, Daddy Freeze expressed his intention to comply with the court’s ruling by paying the fine, despite maintaining his innocence. He stated, “I will pay the fine, but I want to make it clear that I am innocent.”
The case has generated significant public interest, highlighting issues surrounding personal conduct and legal repercussions in high-profile relationships. Daddy Freeze’s reaction to the court’s decision has further fueled discussions on social media, where he has a large following and often shares his candid views on various topics.
Paul Odekina, the complainant, had alleged that the affair between Daddy Freeze and his then-wife Benedicta Elechi caused irreparable harm to their marriage, prompting the legal action that resulted in the ₦5 million fine.
As the media personality prepares to settle the fine, he continues to assert his innocence and plans to address the matter further with his supporters and the general public through his social media platforms.
