In a significant move, Meta has announced that content creators in Nigeria can now monetize their content on Facebook and Instagram. This decision, announced in March 2024, took effect in June 2024, marking a significant milestone for Nigerian creators.
Prior to this announcement, Nigerian content creators were not eligible for Facebook monetization unless they had a page management based in an eligible country. With this new development, creators in Nigeria can now earn money through ads, Instagram stars, and gifts.
This move is expected to empower Nigerian content creators to reach a wider audience and earn revenue from their content. Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Sir Nick Clegg, announced the decision during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
This decision is a testament to Meta’s commitment to supporting creators in Nigeria and empowering them to build sustainable careers, said Sir Nick Clegg.
With this development, Nigerian content creators can now join the ranks of global creators who are already monetizing their content on Facebook and Instagram.
