With a career spanning music, film, and politics, Onwenu was an icon in Nigerian entertainment. She released her debut album “For the Love of You” in 1981 and went on to release numerous albums and singles, including the hit song “One Love”. She also acted in several Nollywood films and held various leadership roles, including chairing the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture and directing the National Centre for Women Development. Onwenu was honored with the National Honors of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in 2011 and recognized as one of the most influential women in Nigeria. Her legacy will be deeply missed, and her contributions to Nigerian society have been widely recognized and celebrated.
