Ibadan Stampede Trial Update

The Oyo State High Court, presided over by Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin, has adjourned the bail hearing for defendants in the Ibadan stampede case until January 13, 2025.

During today’s proceedings, Barrister Abiodun Aikomo, representing the state, presented counterarguments to the defense’s bail application. The defendants, including Princess Naomi Ogunwusi, Oriyomi Hamzat, and Fasasi Abdulahi, face charges related to the tragic loss of 35 lives at a Christmas funfair in Ibadan.

The defendants are charged with conspiracy, accelerating death, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities. The adjournment sets the stage for further legal proceedings on January 13, 2025.
